There's not enough threads archived on the old board for me to find the particular thread about Fairley. With that being said nobody here has said Dial shouldn't have gotten 15 for it. Suspension is asinine.
"Some men are mere hunters; others are turkey hunters."
Who's defending it? Every Bama fan I have seen said it should have been 15 yards. All I heard from you guys regarding the Fairley hit was that Murray shouldn't be such a pussy.
Watch the video above and watch the one In this post. I'm sure you can see the difference.
Y'all keep holding your breath waiting on Dial to be suspended like Fairley was for part of the Iron Bowl.
Yep, spearing in the back should have gotten a flag between his eyes and penalized 15 yards!
The hit on the shin while Murray is standing like a statue watching the arch of a graceful pass down field to a gazelle like receiver and not protecting himself til the end of the play is stupid on Murray's part. Did it deserve a flag? Nope, standing statue still while 8 gorillas are pushing, shoving and falling all around you and not making any attempt to get out of the way does not justify a flag.

How is this any different than Murray not being aware of his surroundings after he threw an interception?

In my earlier post I said that Murray should protect himself at ALL times while on the field. The difference is there are not 8 gorillas, pushing, shoving and falling all around him after the interception and Dial passed up two other players while headhunting farther away from the play than the two players he passed up.

Just for schits and grins...which two players did he "pass up" to go headhunting...the one in front of him he would have probably had to block in the back to have gotten to, or the one that was 4 or 5 yards behind him that he didn't see?
If you didn't like the hit Dial put on Murray, that's fine. Everybody has their own opinion. It was marginal at best (even though he led with the shoulder pad under Murray's left armpit), and certainly worthy of a penalty at worst. But, don't look for any possible reason you can to make it worse than it really was.

If I am looking at it from a referees perspective it's a flag, from a Alabama fans perspective it a great hit! Game's over why is it still an issue? Is it not good enough that Alabama got to prove their ability on the field this year and have a chance at a NC?

It's not an issue. It's just for some, football ended in Nov and it's a long time to signing day and even longer before an attempt to regain relevancy.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
Even if Dial had been suspended, so what? It's not like he's an impact player. He takes up space and that's about it. Marginal player at best. The Tide probably has a backup that can play just as well. Everybody needs to get over it. Let'em play football.

Please explain to me if you were the ref how you would justify throwing the flag. The hit was legal. Hints why no flag was thrown...
