Well I'll start by saying it's great to be here. Been watching and learning from everyone on here for a while now. Great stuff. But to the rant! I hate poachers! Some piece of crap shot a deer in my front yard last night at one thirty. By the time I jumped out of bed and got my clothes on they already had it loaded up. They had stopped on the road, shined, shot, and loaded up all within three minutes, the deer must have been right on the side of the road. But what can I do? Just hope it wasnt a big buck. I go through this every year, and boy does it make my blood boil

If you know their pattern, sit up one night and wait on them. Get tag number and go to bed.

My front yard is huge. 50 acres or so. A air strip that is 2200ft long. My family is pilots. Got 160 acres of mountain land. And the deer are at one end one night and at the other end the next. My luck would be I would sit out there one night to no avail. Bout the only way I can catch them is after I hear a shot. I work full time and need my rest at night. I would try it on the weekend but then I wouldn't be able to hunt cuz I'd be to tired. I called game warden he can't do nothin except set up a sting operation.

Easy solution.....give me permission to hunt your property, and I will do the sting operation for you while you get your rest. Your welcome.

That goes on a lot up there. If I had land I would let the honeysuckle and briars and whatever grow along the road till you couldn't see my property.

That Sux. Those deer are very visable at your place. Hope you catch them. Keep you ears open, if it's really big, hard to keep it quite.

set up a decoy and watch it. This. Get pictures and tag numbers, do not confront an armed poacher. Or- hide inside and watch. When they shoot toward your front yard you can claim castle doctrine and fire back as you thought you were being shot at.

call the GW and get em set up a decoy, easiest, fastest way to catch nigh hunters. If he won't come, call Montgomery.
We caught a couple of poachers one night in Tuscaloosa Co that shot a deer just like you are describing. A 60ish woman and her 80ish mother were up sitting on the porch at 1am when the poachers shot a deer in their yard. The two women jumped in their truck and chased the poachers while talking to Tusc SO on the cell phone. Tusc SO called me and we all arrived at the same spot at the same time...bad timing for the poachers. Those old women were tough as nails....and armed.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Hey, just for fun, let us all know when they do it so the minivan mafia can stake it out too and get in on the action.

Will do. And I would be open to letting someone join me from time to time on my property. Good friend of mine usually does but he can't always go. It's walk in cuz my trail needs maintenance. Very steep and rocky but lots of deer. We have only killed two does and i arrowed a spike early November. Still lots of deer left. Couple monster bucks if they can survive the poachers

Man you have a pretty place hate it that somebody is shooting your deer at night. Like foldemup said turn the minivan mafia and the game wardens loose on them.

Ya know, the whole Minivan Mafia thing is not a bad idee. When a poacher see that bunch of yahoos, minivan and all, they'll hit the ground laughing and you can get the drop on em.
