Sat on the side of the mountain this evening with my smokepole overlooking an acorn flat and all I could think about was wishing it was March.

Don't get me started, I'm about to have a fit to shoot one of them ugly suckers. I turkey hunted all over myself twice this week already.

I honestly have to drag my arse around to get my stuff ready to go deer hunting and we've got several really nice deer on camera to boot. I swear if my son didn't like it so much, I would retire from deer hunting (except for the Midwest). There's just no comparison.

I have gotten to where I take the kids to the club, let them deer hunt while I sit in the trailer and watch football/drink beer while they hunt. If I had a fall season, I would sell all the deer rifles and do nothing but turkey hunt

Saw a group of 10 gobblers Sunday afternoon and instinctively sat down against a tree and started scratching in the leaves.
We are not perfect, only forgiven!!!

I decided that I needed to quit turkey hunting one year, maybe 1985 er so. I made it to the second week of April, then fell off the wagon and killed four birds in five days......
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

The first step is admitting you a problem.
Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

I watched four longbeards for a while Friday morning until they saw me. I think I could have drawn on these young dummies. I know I sure wanted to, but, I would have had to have thrown myself out of the club if I had.........

After taking care of business I like to fly up look down on the fine handiwork I did.

What amazes me more than anything after about 20 years of fooling with turkeys is that it seems like it takes so long to get from May 1 back around to March 15, but then once you get there it seems like just a day or two and you wake up and it's already May 1 again.

I tried to stay away from all turkey talk due to the lack of sleep and constant thoughts racing through my head, but I made it to the opening of deer season with decent sleep and little day dreaming. Then deer season came around and started to hear about gobblers seen under or near deer hunter or listening to them fly down while sitting in their stands. The dreams have returned and thats all I can think about now.

This morning was the second time this week I had planned to get up and go try to kill a pine goat. Alarm went off, walked in and woke my son up, he said "ehh, doesn't matter if we go". I said "yep, lets sleep more" and went back to bed.
I can't get motivated this year. If someone would just give me the straps off two does I would put the rifles up this year. But I do love some venison t'loin. Maybe I can get a fire lit before the weekend is out.
