I finally got to read this thread!
I've been so busy with my job, my kid, dog and everything I have to do each day that I got behind on my Aldeer!
Thank y'all so much for the advice!
I havent made a move yet.
I really like Irish's advice on putting the cash into a 3% high interest savings account.
I will let the 401k ride and not touch it like everyone said.
What's killing me is losing the 321 dollars a month on the 3.62 interest and another 69 a month for flood insurance.
So I'm losing almost 400 a month there.
That's 4,800 a year I'm losing just to keep cash on hand that's losing value due to inflation.
If I put 70k into the high interest account, I will still have all my money but all the profit still goes out the door to Wells Fargo.
I will definitely move the money to the high interest savings account then start throwing money at the mortgage payments.
I hired 2 different surveyors to get me out of the flood zone but they ran when the easy money ran out. They did elevation certificates for me at 400 and 700 bucks each but when the city approved it and wanted them to make Revised Maps, they didn't want to do it. I will have to hire a real business to do that cause these mom and pop guys aren't interested in getting paid I guess. You can't pay people to work these days, it's crazy. I told them name their price but they said it's more work than they wanted. Wasted my time and money there.
Now I gotta start over cause the elevation certificates expire after about a year or less.
