I don’t think he realizes the Fed is no longer in control of rates. The 2 yr is still trading almost 1% above the fed funds rate after the hike. They need 4 more raises just to match the market. Rates are high because of debt and deficits AND a strong economy.
Although we read a lot of doom and gloom, the August retail sales number released today was strong and represents 6% year over year growth and it’s not just fuel related inflation. The consumer is still spending and rates apparently need to go much higher to fight inflation. Excellent post

Are prices outrageous or is this party just getting into gear? $7 will be here this weekend and into next week. $9-10 per gallon for diesel at stations in Alabama on Midterm Election Day is my prediction. Trumps super duper successful war in Iran definitely won’t be on the mind of voters

I guess the difference is I knew Trump was full of sh!t when I voted for him but he was damn sure better than the alternative and I’m thankful he is there. The doom and gloom does get old. Yeah, fuel prices are high but the world isn’t coming to an end. Every restaurant is packed, malls are packed. Airplanes are packed. Beaches are packed. Unemployment is historically low. People have money and are spending it. This too shall pass. Hunting season needs to hurry up and get here.

Since yesterday the price of Diesel has gone up 8 cents on the National average. Another All Time High. Today's national average for diesel is $6.395 The Alabama average is $6.09, up 5 cents from yesterday.
There are also reports from around the country of gas stations being out of diesel. Those may be anecdotal or one off type things but they are making the news. Valero's in the Houston area showing OUT on their pumps, Orlando area stations also showing OUT. California also has several reports but we ignore California stuff as a policy.

Its being pointed out that the price of diesel in many places is now more than the Federal minimum wage. That's a new metric that I haven't heard of before. I wonder how that is affecting the delivery driver side gig business?

Closing the borser is the greatest accomplishment in the last 25 yrs. Not to mention all the other great things he has done. Between gas being down to $2 25 ish last year and it being as hish as $3.90 this year someone can do the math but the average has to be around $3.15ish for this term so that pretty dang dood compared to where we were under the democrats.
