I just thought I had a lot of dog fennel! My soils are too dry to allow that kind of growth, but it's thick enough in spots. I mowed some of my quail and turkey strips this past weekend and there was definitely some 8ft plus dog fennel patches in there. I'll come back in November and do some light disking. I will say dog fennel does make some pretty decent quail and poult habitat on my place. Good overhead structure with clean dirt under it.
Mowing it now is definitely better for the radiator than waiting until it flowers out in a month or so. That is a nightmare.
