Yall tell me about it. Pros cons. Going with a sig sawtooth. Went elk hunting and everone out west seems to be shooting it. I also want the ruger dead air suppressor, with a luepold vx6 3-18x56. I looked at a seekins element hunter, not sure which way to go. Am i doing good. Or not?

I shoot the 6.5 PRC for longe range Alabama whitetail and am very happy with it. But 7mm PRC is going to be a very unique round to get much valuable input on this forum, especially for western game.

Get it, if that’s what you want. However, it is definitely not needed for deer or elk. I wouldn’t buy a 7 PRC. Personally, I would get a non magnum. Heck, my elk rifle last year was a Remington Model Seven 7-08. Lol

I love the .284 caliber. I shot a 7 mag for a few years when I was younger. It was a sure nuff killer. It was a Browning BLR and is packed a pretty good punch when you squeezed the trigger. As I got older I got away from the heavier recoil and now I shoot the 7-08 more than anything else. If I was to step up to a heavier cartridge it would definitely e the 7PRC.

I’ve got a Springfield waypoint in 7prc with a mark5 on it. It’s an awesome round if you want to reload and shoot a heavy/high BC projectile at smoking speeds.

My gun is a consistent 1/2MOA or less at 600yds gun, but I’d get a seekins if I had it to do over. If that tells you anything.

I'd go with the Seekins IMHO.

7 PRC is a good choice. Shoot heavy bullets like the 180 ELD M.

I've got the parts to build a 7-300 PRC, just waiting on the chamber reamer for my Smith to put it together. Wanted a little more horsepower than a 7 PRC since I already have a 7 mm Remington Magnum and a 280 Ai.

I'll shoot either the 180 or 195 gr Berger bullets in mine.

Ditto. I like what I hear and read about the 7mmPRC , don't have one though. I have a 7mm WSM , Stainless A Bolt I'm mighty fond of , it's bad medicine on Elk .

7 WSM and 7 PRC are basically twins ballistic wise.

The 7WSM just never got traction though. I still don't understand why people went nuts over the 270 and 300 WSM when the 7mm was the superior of the three. I'm a big fan of the 7mm-08 also, great caliber on a great case .

The WSM and SAUM cartridges were fast out of the gate but quickly faded because the manufacturers essentially stopped supporting them. The reason for that is that Winchester and Remington stole the idea from Rick Jamison who sued them and won. The court required them to pay a lump sum and royalties to Jamison which they did not like.

Rick was editor of Shooting Times and was essentially blackballed from the industry after his court victory.

The WSM was the the more popular line of cartridges, but i don't know of any factory rifles being offered in the WSM at this time. The SAUM cartridges have been kept going due to competitive shooters and custom rifles. I prefer the SAUM case design over the WSM case.

I originally was gonna go with the 7 mag, just because im more familiar with it. But it just doesn't seem like its as easy to find in as many rifles as the prc. At least not in the places i checked. I found that hard to believe.

I’ve got a 7 SAUM in a Remington Model Seven SS and love that rifle. I shot my first elk with it. If I’m lucky enough to ever kill another elk, it’ll be with a 6 Creedmoor or 6.5 Creedmoor.

I didn't know about a lawsuit and such. I just didn't get why, back 15-20 years ago , when WSMs were all the rage, people went all in for the 270 and 300 WSM and the superior 7mm got no love. For a feller who loads, the 7mm WSM can be a real hot rod.

I have a 6.5prc that I love and I bought a 7prc in a fierce. I have a 4x20x52 VX5HD. I have 3 of those scopes on different rifles. It is my go to.

I a loading it with 180gr bergers. Chrono about 2960fps

My son just bought a Seekins PH3 Havac. He added the same scope as me. He is shooting 155gr terminal ascent and it is shooting quite well.

So many good choices in rifles these days! Such a good time to be a gun buyer. Getting almost a custom gun in an over the counter rifle these days.

Like said before, get what you want. The thing I like the most about my 7prc is that with my B&T can on it, it is such a soft shooting gun! I think it would be a great western cartridge.

Tgis is what i wonder about. I usaaly dont worry about recoil. I hunt alot with a 45-70. But i want to shoot this gun alot, and i dont know anything about suppressors. Everyone i ask, tells a different story. Will there be a difference in recoil. On the silencer with a muzzle brake, and the deadair over the barrel. I like the over the barrel. Because its shorter, but i really want to be able to shoot this gun alot. Evertging im reading, says 7prc doesn't have alot of recoil?

Buddy of mine has one that joker is heavy and like toting a telephone pole around.

I’m sure it shoots sweet but it is just too big long and heavy for what I want in a hunting rifle
