There actually is a rule.

With all the craziness in college football, The SEC office decided to head off problems that were obviously brewing. The Big 10, Big 12, ACC, PAC 12 Mountain West, have all passed similar policies…

On August 25, 2026, the SEC adopted The Eligibility on former Professional Athletes ..The policy defined professional athletes as one of the following:

1) Signed a contract with any Professional Team….ie…NFL or any professional football league, NBA/G League, WNBA

2)Previously declared for the NFL, NBA, WNBA draft without properly withdrawing

3)Been on a professional roster in those leagues or their affiliates…

So the SEC adopted this rule 15 days ago, after Lane’s little plan was already in motion. That’s very interesting timing. Listening to Sankey talk last week, you’d think that rule had been in place for the last 20 yrs.

I was answering the statement that there was rule saying they could play; yes they voted against that.

I think you are right, didnt Lane take it to court before the 25th? The strange thing is if you read the LSU tiger bait site, they are saying Lane figured out a way to take advantage of pro players but they dont explain what they are talking about, or if they even know what they are talking about… But those fans are acting like they have already won the NC, they are going nuts after the Clemson game..

Lane did not go to court; the players seeking a TRO to be allowed to play brought the action in Baton Rouge.

Which rule is that? Please share your information.

The NCAA said that those players had eligibility left. Pretty simple, really. Basketball has had pro players for awhile. Not sure why all of a sudden Sankey does his holier than thou routine. They should tell him to pound sand.

Lsu and Lane will either be really good or a really good train wreck.

Lane is gonna win a ton of games at LSU. I’m a bama fan but looking at last weekend with my crimson glasses removed, LSU looked a whole lot better than bama did on opening weekend, on both sides of the ball, and I think a weak Clemson squad is still far better competition than ECSU. While Lane is a pretty crappy human being, he’s a dang good coach. Far better at his job than Deboer.

Lane Kiffin has a career record of 15–26 (.365) against AP Top 25 teams
Kalen DeBoer holds a 20-6 (.769) career record against AP Top 25 teams

I think they'll be good, until he does something to screw it up.

LSU’s, $50 million plus roster had better produce results in holding up trophies cause that gumbo pot is always on simmer and as every year passes and no trophies are held up that pot heats right on up to a boil. LSU historically in football is not a blue blood program even though their fans act and think they are. LSU won 1 championship in their history till Saban won 1 there and LSU has won 2 since Saban left. LSU may win 1 championship with Kiffin at the helm but following the history of LSU’s football program that will be about it.

With it being Joey Freshwater, I'd put my money on both, at the same time.

Yep, Kiffin is good for some drama and has entertainment value and that’s about it. He has never won anything meaningful up to this point as a HC. He has won the drama trophy plenty of times. Can’t stand the guy as a Head football coach.

Y'all can doubt Joey all you want.

But he's now at a school with big money resources and one of the most talent rich states in the country.

He will win a Natty within 3 years.

Bet the farm.

Remember his dream job was USC? 😂

You've also got to factor in where Lane's been and that he's also never been at a school that was set up to win. All have been turn-around situations up until LSU and honestly, as bad as LSU was under Kelly, it could be considered a turnaround situation too.

TN - he came in after Fat Fulmer was fired. Only there for year and TN is definitely not where you'd chose to go to win. Especially at that time

USC - hasn't been a relevant football power since Carroll left

Florida Atlantic - he should have won a natty there. They are constantly ranked in the top 5 and always in the playoffs. Not. It was his first HC job after graduating from the famous Saban's Coaching Rehab Clinic. I think that Saban probably thinks he's a good coach but cant get past the fact that Lane supposedly slept with his daughter. LOL

Ole Miss - Another major turn around and he brought them from being the long time whipping boy of the SEC, to deep in the playoffs. He was doing great right up until he quit the week of his first NC playoff game, to take the LSU job. But hey, that's Lane. rofl

As far as Deboer goes:

10 of Deboer's top 25 wins have come against SEC teams in the last 2 yrs, after inheriting a playoff team, primed and ready to roll, from Saban

12 of Deboer's top 25 wins came in an 18 month period with Washington after catching lightning in a bottle with Michael Penix and making it to the Natty game after only having to play west coast PAC 12 teams which are often ranked well beyond their level of quality simply because the media loves them and promotes them.

Jury is still out on Deboer and his ability as a top 5 head coach is far from settled. He has not impressed thus far at Alabama. He was handed the keys to a ferrari with a full tank of gass and he's still driving it like it's honda accord and hasn't managed to shift it out of first gear.

As far as the DeBoer conversation goes- There were a bunch of Saban’s recruiting evaluations in his last 5 years as HC that were honestly not very good. I would say that DeBoer inherited a Mustang 5.0 but not quite a Ferrari in comparison. DeBoer is definitely not Nick Saban but who is and who ever will be that great? Safe bet is no one. Have to give the man credit for even taking on that situation of coming in to be after the greatest HC to ever do it.
