My grandmother was a damned good cook. When she started listening to the health experts and fear mongers, she changed the way she cooked. Tried to cook healthier. It was still good, but not the same.
She came down with a variety of illnesses in her senior years. Cancer, cardiac, kidney issues, among others. She's sitting in her chair at home after a lengthy hospital stay. She looks over at me in her voice that was now so weak you had to concentrate to hear her. She said "I wish I'd never changed how I cooked. Food was better. And the change didn't get me one day extra on this earth." A week or so later she passed away.
I'm not saying be obese or a t-totaller. But do what the hell makes you happy. Tomorrow isn't a guarantee for any of us. We will all be gone from this earth at some point. Might as well enjoy what time we have on this earth while we have it.
Moderation in everything. There's no shortage of things that will kill you. Natural and Not so natural. Accidents, crime. Hell, scientists and doctors are as responsible for as much or more death than alcohol or fried foods are.
One thing is certain. One day, you'll wake up dead. Enjoy what time you have. But… how did she know it didn’t get her one more day one earth? She could have died years earlier if she hadn’t changed her diet. 🤷🏻♂️ Nah I didn’t miss the point Fireplug. I get what you are saying. And I agree kind of. Not necessarily with “do what makes you happy” but more along the lines of “do what’s right and decide to be happy”. My point was she made the right choice by eating healthier. Whether it accomplished her goal or not, it was the right choice.

I only drink on special occasions, nights and weekends! I only drink on days that end in a "y".

One ice cold beer every afternoon does it for me.

Tequila on the rocks with a lime twist in the warm months, bourbon on a few ice cubes cool weather, 1-2 beers no more or I start feeling bloated, 1 glass of wine with a meal if offered. Damn I sound like an alcoholic. lol Usually only drink 3-4 days a week. And never exceed 2 drinks.
I've been on health kick since about 50 and drink a ton of water and eat pretty good so I figure if the alcohols gonna harm me at this point "OH WELL"

What tequila you guys drinking on the rocks and gold or silver, I think this thread was to help us slow down, but has me wanting to expand my knowledge! I have tried a lot, (for research purposes only you understand), and I have come back full circle to Jose Cuervo Gold. i know it's not 100% agave, but it simply tastes better. I have tried many 100% agave tequilas, most more expensive and all of them seem to have this slight "bug juice" taste that I just can't get around. You know what I'm talking about... Like when you were a kid and your Momma sprayed you down with bug juice and some of it accidentally got in your mouth. That taste. Do a blind taste test with Jose Cuervo Gold and some other anejo tequilas, you are going to have to spend a fair amount of money to get a tequila that taste better than Jose Cuervo. Cool thing is I can ride a few minutes over to the Winn Dixie Liquor store in Florida and pick it up for $13 a bottle. I drink it straight up on the rocks.
