I bought one a few years back and some feather fletched arrows with the goal of killing a doe. I’ve never hunted or killed a deer with anything other than a compound or cross bow. I believe this year I’m going to try and get it off my bucket list

I hope to do the same one day. Looked at some the other day.

Love a good hunting story, love my family and friends. Some people you can't, but acted like do.

I want one - I am thinking about getting a low draw weight one just to play around with and shoot a ton and build the fundamentals and then buy another heavier weight one to maybe kill a doe with to check the box.

I killed several deer with one its fun especially shooting cedar arrows it takes a ton of practice to get good and use a finger tab or you can mess up the nerves in your fingers if you shoot a lot

Hope you're successful. I've thought of doing the same one day, but have too many projects in the works.

I haven’t shot my compound in 2 years. Probably won’t this year either. It brought back the fun in hunting for me. But if you like dragging deer every time you go, it’s probably not for you! 😂

I have several friends that hunt with recurves exclusively. One of them Knapps his own broadhead from flint. That is pretty good. Traditional all the way. Good luck to you and make sure to let us know when you achieve your goal.

I was trad before compounds came out. I was shooting one day with my nephew, he had just bought a Black Bear compound. We were both shooting a 50lb bow. I was blown away with how much faster and flatter his arrows were flying and I began a 15 or so year journey to the Darkside. laugh I eventually came back to my senses when I got tired of feeling like a had to keep up with the latest technology. Here's my advice to anyone on the fence:
If you're after meat, stick with the compound.
If you're after a rewarding experience and sometimes a little meat, go trad.

I'm definitely getting into trying it, after season this year. Please tell me what bow and arrows to start with. I have killed so many with a compound I think it would bring back adrenaline.
