Anybody use IMR 4227 for 300BO subsonic? I have everything for loading some 220gr subs and just wondered if anybody else uses it.

No, but it would probably do well. I like H110.

I have H110 as well. Both are my .44mag powders. In my research I've read that 4227 burns a bit cleaner that H110. Gonna give it a try.

My subsonic load (16" barrel) uses a 190 Sub-X over 8.7 grains of H110. Quiet and accurate. Let us know how the IMR4227 works out. I've always loved the stuff.

You can likely come up with a sub load for IMR 4227, but it’s not ideal. H110 is even worse. They both work great for supers though. 1680 is still the gold standard for subs, IMO. Lil gun, CFE Blk also work well

Edit to add, this is assuming heavy bullets in the 220-245 grain range. Things may be different if you’re loading lightweight subs

There's actually a good bit of load data for 4227 subs, even on the Hodgdon website
