You’ll have to argue that with the judge. He specifically mentioned Bridgewater as to where she would be going if found guilty
He stated that when he was laying out his instructions this morning to the jury. He said that only so the jury wouldn’t find her guilty to avoid her walking. The law is clear, and I’d think he knows it. People with documented mental illnesses can not be held in prisons or jails. If found not guilty by mental disease or defect, she will be turned loose as soon as she is deemed not a threat to society. She’ll be locked up and treated and evaluated in a mental hospital and kept until she is deemed safe. That may be 10 days or 10 years. Perhaps she’ll die first, but more than likely she’d be free first. Bridge water is a mental illness facility. I posted earlier. Bridgewater State Hospital is a secure forensic psychiatric facility for men in southeastern Massachusetts that is currently operated under the state prison system rather than mental health authorities. A "forensic psychiatric hospital" is a medical facility that evaluates and treats people with mental illness who are involved in the criminal justice system Yates is still in the system What are the odds she’ll not serve any to little time. Most cases serve similar sentences whether innocent due to mental illness or guilty. I’m sure there cases where they walk quickly. But the averages say otherwise. Hinkley got out but how long did he serve for shooting Reagan. I realize Massachusetts is different than Alabama but how many times does the mental illness angle get perps out of guilt. It pretty dang rare
