Seriously -
If you are not using the 7mm-08 for LONG distance hunting, cut to 16.5" and ENJOY portability. Barnes 120 TTSX is rated at 3005 FPS muzzle, and 2284 FPS at 300 yards.
Assume that's a 24" barrel. Most cartridges lose 25 FPS or less per inch of barrel cut. Do you really think that 2805 FPS muzzle/2084 FPS at 300 is going to change the killing power?
How many people have you heard about killing deer with 300 BLK? 110 grain 300 BLK is 2285 FPS muzzle, 1575 at 300 yards with a 110 grain bullet with a 16" barrel, and most folks are shooting it shorter than 16".
