Watched a documentary earlier on it. Almost 30 years and the have DNA of family members and it still isn’t solved. I watch these show where the can take DNA and track it to family members of the killers and find them decades later. I think Boulder police went in with blinders on and were focused on the family instead of looking outside of them, I know the mother has passed away and the father has to be getting up in age. One of the stranger unsolved cases around.

I remember when this happened, I was 26. Always thought it might have been the brother or someone close to the family.

I've stood on the street in Boulder, Colorado, and looked for a long time at the house. The address is different now, and the new owners have let the shrubbery and trees grow up enough to block a lot of the view.

I've also been to the last restaurant JonBenet ate at -- one of her favorites, Pasta Jay's -- nice place if you're ever there. The Coors is very fresh coming from Ford Street in Golden.

The only person to have ever publicly confessed to the murder is from Hamilton, Alabama, and almost certainly didn't do it. He only confessed for publicity and to get a free ride out of Thailand back to the US.

What a terrible tragedy. Horrible murder that haunts many of us who remember true crime from the mid 90s.

It was no doubt the brother. Mom and dad did everything in their power to protect him.

I remember seeing John Ramsey with Beth Holloway at Davenports Pizza one night. They were an item for a while. He was a lot smaller than I imagined he would be.

I've always suspected the brother had something to do with it but we will never know the truth.

My understanding is that they do have a very small amount of DNA that is one and done on testing, so they are waiting for DNA advancements. Very strange case and I always felt that it was from within the family with the ransom letters, etc. Didn't seem to match the MO of your typical child predator.

If I recall correctly they tested some of the DNA and it was no match for anyone related. I always felt like it was an outsider. Thought the mom first until the DNA test revealed an outsider.

Quote
Key DNA FactsThe Evidence: Low-level unknown male DNA was recovered from the waistband of JonBenét's long underwear and a blood spot. The Exoneration: In 2008, District Attorney Mary Lacy formally apologized to the Ramsey family and stated the DNA profile excluded all family members, supporting an intruder theory.

Ongoing Debate: Opinions are mixed on r/JonBenetRamsey, as some independent forensic scientists argue the touch DNA could be factory transfer or casual contact rather than proof of a killer.

Current Status: Boulder Police continue to review evidence and retest items using modern technology, while family advocates push for Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) testing

I used to work there 50 years ago and it hasn't changed a bit in 50 years.

Early on I thought the brother was a junior psycho and had done it. But the DNA thing changed my thoughts. I do believe the failure her was them focusing on the mother instead of looking further. Just to many blinders by the cops. The cops even brought in a private investigator and he didn’t believe the family did it. That’s what’s sad
