The have regular excavations but in Israel they are tightly controlled by the government. The narratives are even more tightly controlled. With that said, its like that in most Middle Eastern countries.
They all want to say they were the first and the best ever throughout time. Any narrative against that gets shut down by the governments rapidly.
Saddam Hussein was notorious for spoiling excavations to show that his line was always in charge of Iraq. Egypt naturally shuts down things they find against their preferred narrative. The Saudi's dont allow much at all because they won Arabia by displacing everybody else and everything found there is pre Saud and counter to their regime. Jordan doesn't really give a damn because they got Petra which generates steady tourist revenue.
Turkey tightly controls things too but their history is more of an open book. The new discoveries around Gobelki Tepe are showing what we have suspected for a long time now. They were the first to the civilization game around 15,500 yrs ago. Every other civilization spawned from there.
