I personally think that "Brand Name" sneakers have already had their day and that day is on the wane.
1. Fewer people care about making a statement with a "Brand." 2. There's a lot of athletic brands out there for people to care less about.
Last time was in Academy i looked at some Nike's their high dollar one's and they looked like cheap crap
I've got a pair of Sketchers, a pair of New Balance and I have some kind of off-brand barefoot style slip on sneakers I like so much I bought 3 pairs of them off Amazon. They were like $29 a pair.
I didn't buy any of those based on the brand name. I bought all of them because they were comfortable and looked the least offensive to the eyes.

Said they looked like cheap crap never said i cared what folks think of what I'm wearing, I'm not paying what they want for that garbage. However 99 percent of the time I'm wearing boots and usually cowboy boots (or my slip work boots or scrimpn boots i got lots of boots) and I've got some nice one's but i wear what i like and don't try to be with the COOL crowd or care what any other human being thinks of what i wear
At one point Nike was the premier brand and everyone was wearing their tennis shoes. Now there are so many better options on the market that are fit the bill for being "cool." Nike no longer has the competitive advantage.
I have to wear shoes for supination, which means Brooks, NB or some Hoka's.
I cooked some supination the other night. Pan sautéed it with some white wine and cream sauce. Served it with some green beans and yellow rice. It was delicious. Forget to take pics though...

The comments here are from us middle age and older and though we're not turned on by Nike any longer, what about our young adult kids and young grands? They are the ones that drive the popularity of fashion/sports brands. I bet there's still a status symbol in the schools with who's wearing what sneaker with some kids. I know my 31 year old nephew definitely puts his 8 year old ball playing boy in whatever is popular, Nike, Under Armor, etc... just like his dad did him. We also have a grandson that is name brand conscious so much so that he asked for a very particular New Balance shoe from us for Christmas... $178 and the other grand wanted a particular red nike warmup suit. And I thought, Y'all aren't going to college to support this habit? (both seniors in hs at the time)
On another note, I have had a pair of nike bike shorts I bought 20 years ago. Those things have seen me through skinny and much more. They're still holding on! Crazy! Not sure the quality is still there in their products today but I'm certain the prices have tripled. I still think Nike is relevant for the younger, sports minded folks.
Nike (like it or not) is a huge company with MUCH more than shoes. I’ll admit On Cloud and New Balance is what we mostly wear in our house. I’m just trying to make a little $…. Woke doesn’t factor in anymore imo, look at Bud Light. They’re fine now, and there was a ton of $ made on that dip. My only issue with Nike is where the bottom is? I think anything under 40.00 will be fine long term. My opinion, but I still haven’t pulled the trigger.

Hell i don't believe it does either. People stopped buying Budlight but put their money towards other Bush products and the wokest of them all Coors smdh 🤦🏿♂️ But back to Nike the quality i last seen was terrible i dunno if their stock will recover, but chance ya take i reckon. But hey Awbarn switched to Nike in 25 so there's that 🤣
