Used to drive a Black Chevy 64 Stepside. It only had a Straight 6 in it, and 3 on the tree, but would turn some heads.

I bout bought this one a few days after I bought the Camaro. Kinda glad it sold before I pulled the trigger. My wife would have been pissed when she realized she could no longer park in the garage.

My band of gear heads when I was younger had almost every imaginable muscle car.
Some small blocks but mostly big block motors.
And they were our daily drivers back then.
66,69,70 chevelles
67,68,69, 70 novas
65,66,69,70 mustangs
68,69, 71 old cutlass, W30, 442’s
66 cobra
69,70 roadrunners
66,69,70 cudas
55,56,57 Chevy Belairs and Nomads
61,63 impalas
I even owned a 57 VW with a small block Chevy in it.

I've had quit a few over the years ,1955 chevy bel air , 3 1969 camaros 2 ss's and 1 rs, 1969 galaxy 500 custom, 1970 plymouth fury, 1978 camaro z/28 1985 camaro iroc z.

One of my favorite classic cars was the 1966 Chevy Nova Super Sport. Square Body.

Buddy up in Brewton had one in his barn, along with several other Hot Rods, all in mint condition. Asked if he'd sell the Nova, and was told hell no.

Few years later, he was having health issues, and I heard he was selling his collection. Wanted that Nova, but wasn't in the financial situation at that time to get it. Beautiful car!

Quailman, one of my buddies had a black 66 Nova with a 427 big block in it.
Chrome straight axle and fender well headers. 4 speed.
I rode in it once. After he snatched second gear and that thing went sideways down the road I had enough and walked the rest of the way home ( it was on my street)

69 Plymouth GTX

Mine was a 67 Camaro with a 327. Holley 500 2 bbl, headers, and a 3/4 cam. I was clocked at 140mph by a RoadRunner as I pulled away from him.

First car was ‘61 Corvette. Sky blue with white insets, white rag top and white leather interior. The ONLY reason I got it is because sister (8 years older) flattened a stop sign learning to drive it. Sat in the carport for 8 years waiting….was white on white on white when Dad bought it and he and the farm labor took it back to the original Sky blue w/white insets. Only had a 283 double barrel in it, but Dad always said a hopped up Singer sewing machine motor would be too fast for that light little fiberglass body!
He had to sell it for land taxes, shortly after I got married and we had no resources to buy it. Great memories, but damnations it was hot for four MS Delta summers, before getting a car with a/c my senior year!! I miss it (now), but not the constant wrenching….had gotten to be one issue after another and parts harder to find.

Could find none but few videos and when it was torn down being restored. Reckon lost em 6 phones ago 😄

I know they came stock with the 327 or 283. Fast either way.

Those Fastbacks were great looking cars!

Growing up the guy around the corner had two sons that raced on the drag strip. One was a 69 fast back with the 351 C and the other was an old mercury fairlane with a 351W. The Cleveland would get the Windsor out of the hole but the Windsor would get there quicker. I hate that cause I loved that two tone fastback
Literally a few doors down and all the neighborhood kids would run down when they’d fire em up.

They owned the Ace Hardware in downtown Tuscumbia.

Back in the early 80s dad was over the tech school on Wilson dam rd in muscle shoals
He had a 4 door LeMans with a 350 and 350 trans. The kids painted it blue and later painted flames down the front and sides. They also did some motor work and that thing would run. Dad drive it for several years before getting it repainted blue

Back in 1976 I had a 1966 Mustang Fastback GT with the Hi/Po 289. It was dark blue with a light blue and white Pony interior. The seat centers were white and there was a there was a running pony embossed on each seat back.

I had saved some money working at Jim Davenport's Pizza Palace in Mountain Brook Village. I was 15 and wanting to buy my first car. My Dad and I had been looking and found out about this car at a dealership on Bessemer Super Highway. We get there and it's jacked up on the back with air shocks, wide tires, and has had some less than stellar bodywork, but it was all there. The dude wanted $900 for it. My Dad talked the guy down to $600. I forked the money over and drove it home without a license, just a learner's permit.

We started with the suspension and fixed all that in the garage. New Monroe Radialmatic shocks, we had the springs re-bent at Birmingham Spring, we took it to Lee Rodgers Tire and they went over the brakes and the bushings. We went to a few junk yards and found some GT wheels, trim rings and center caps. After all that we had a pretty nice Mustang. My Dad helped me a lot with that car. I had no Idea what I had back then. Had I known i would still have that car now. It did help me win over a knockout blonde gal my junior year in high school. She and I were thick as thieves that year. I had no idea what I had with her either, but I'm much better off now with Boho.

It was a great car, but it was still a 1966 car. A new Mustang GT now is 10,000 times a better automobile in every way except nostalgia.

I'll tell y'all the story about the 1971 Olds 442 later...

I never cared for muscle cars and to me, it was a cardinal sin to cut up any of the old Ford Coupes/Roadsters from the early 30’s. I guess because my dad had one of each that he had restored when I was growing up. I’ve ALWAYS been a truck man. For me, it would be a 77-79 Ford 4x4. I also have always loved the old Broncos. Always wanted one but just never could afford one. I have a 2023 Bronco now. It was STILL cheaper than buying an old early 70’s one. Now, one car that I have always loved, but isn’t really a muscle car but is pure bad a$$ when done right, is a 1966 Lincoln with the suicide doors.

I believe if I were paying 400k+ for a Boss 429 , it would have a 429 under the hood.
