I haven’t ever used them but i know even in the 90’s when we ran anything from a tag to a criminal history there was a record of who requested it. Even back then folks lost their job or even went to jail occasionally for stupid stuff but it was extremely rare and more often than not it was dispatchers making a little extra money, not cops. I guess part of me wonders does it even matter, we all willingly carry a very telling device everywhere we go. I know for a fact the convenience of gps on our phones was primarily a DEA push.
