Found one in the pasture few weeks back. Maybe the biggest one I ever seen. 8 feet or so off the ground, on a good limb too. I’d really like to put in my house if possible. Call me crazy but I think it would look good. Now best way to remove it without destroying it and getting stung up like a wild man. Open to all options and suggestions. Thanks

I found one like that close to one of my deer stands. I waited for a 20 degree morning then easy-peasy. Summertime may be a different story.

If I get when it’s cold, what happens when it gets in the warm house? Be some oh crap moments. 😂

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Exxxactly. I think there’s also a grainy video somewhere related to this……

My FIL had one on his barn and wanted it to grow. The second year on a cool morning before daylight, he injected R22 Freon into the hive, put it in a garbage bag then put it in the freezer.

I don't have experience with it, but if you can get it in a black bag, put it out in the sun and I'd think that there is no way they could survive that. Maybe just bag it and leave it on the limb. I have a buddy (crazy roofer) that got one down from the eave of a house. I watched from a distance as stood on an 8 ft ladder and held a can of wasp spray inches from the hole and emptied the can. I am not sure if that would degrade the nest or not.

We put it in a trash bag and hung it in the rafters of my barn. It was there until last week when I took it down and opened it up, no issues. Hung it in my brother’s barn for decoration, no problem so far.

It’s easy, here’s what you do… Climb up on a ladder as close to the nest as you can get and shake the limb with the hive on it vigorously. Once all the hornets are gone, gently remove the nest and put it in a black garbage bag. Open the bag once inside the house and enjoy!

Seriously though…. Good friend of mine did this and it worked well. Wait till the coldest day in January and gently take it down. Put the nest in a trash bag and put it in the freezer for about a month. Then take it out and spray it lightly with a polyurethane spray. Keep in mind, those nests are very fragile and don’t take the elements very well.

The below advice is not intended for people that want to preserve the nest.

1. Slowly pull up next to it in your pickup.
2. Start recording on your phone
3. Roll the window down on passenger side (you need 2-people- preferably about 1/2 drunk to pull this off)
4. Shoot the shit out of it with the automatic 12-gauge of your choice.
a. I recommend 5-rounds of #8
b. Roll window back up
c. Watch with amazement as 1-trillion of those bastages wonder what happened to their home.
5. Drive about 1/2-mile and grab another cold one out of the cooler.

I skipped step 2; however, I gotta say - being about half lit and watching a hornets nest getting blown to bits by an Auto-5 was a GREAT close to a work day at the club.

Nope , all die except for young queens and they vacate the nest . Nests are only used one year.
