We have a tanning ledge. You don’t have to lengthen the pool or lose space. Just have it built in a “L” shape and add the tanning ledge on the “L” part. That’s what we did. Ours is about 13” deep if memory serves me. The wife enjoys it and we figure one day when grandkids come along it’ll be a great place for them until they get bigger. Our pool is 20’x40’ and the tanning ledge is 10’x12’
