Sun Shelf is a must, don't make it too shallow, ours is 12" to 18". That area gets more use then the rest of the pool.
Bite the bullet and get a heat pump that will allow you to cool the pool and heat it. It sounds silly but our pool was getting into the low 90s and it was awful, set the chiller to run the night before you know you will you it and it will drop from 92 to 85 quickly.
