How old is the youngest grandchild? My wife and I were so paranoid when my son built a pool we made them install one of those covers that open and close with an app on the phone. It’s so strong an adult can walk across it. Young kids can wander off in an instant.

48” is way too deep for a shallow end. Lots of women are 5’ or so. No kid will be able to stand. My shallow end is 40” and it’s too deep for kids that are younger. I vote for a deep end too, but apparently no one does that anymore (not sure why).

We enjoy our sun deck but the lounge chairs that are made to be easy on the liner can be pricey… We got lucky and found some on FB marketplace. A lady bought a set as well as the little table that goes in between them. She paid over $2,000.00 for the set. I know because I had looked at the exact set. She got them and realized her tanning ledge was too small for them so her husband took them back apart and boxed them up, put them in the basement. I bought the entire set for $900.00. They were still in the boxes with the packing slips when I picked them up. I don’t o penny she didn’t return them. Maybe waited too long and they wouldn’t take them back?

Tanning ledge when family is over… make out ledge when it’s just me and mama! Our kids are grown now and we spend a lot of nekkid nights on the ledge. Just saying.

Out of all the pools ive been around do what u want with sitting in pool area shallow in water or waterfalls or whatever but wouldn't do over 5ft all the way across cause kids can manage in that depth and adults all we do is float or hang on the side drinking. The deep end hardly ever gets used and will probably save u money. No diving board needed go to an Olympic pool if u feel the need to dive.

Irish and I discussed this last evening while in our community bath aka pool and we voted for the tanning ledge since we're spending your money.  I mean, ENJOY your money. And I believe you will enjoy this feature for a long time.

Have them install several umbrella sleeves into the pool deck so you have a place for chairs in the shade and around the pool
