I’m going to sell my Sides Spread All spreader soon. It has a 3000 pound hopper and the entire bottom is stainless steel. It will spread ANYTHING, and I mean anything. I’ve spread ag lime that has sit in the field for over a year with it. It will spread manure, seed, fertilizer, compost, and any other thing you can throw at it. The stainless steel auger in the bottom will also mix/blend seed and fertilizer together. It also has a 2” receiver hitch to pull a cultipacker behind it to enable one tractor planting. It has always been kept under a shed and thoroughly washed after each use. These are $9800 plus $400 shipping now but I’m asking $7K obo for this one. I have a video of the auger running but it won’t let me post it that I can text or email. I’ve got some pics somewhere of it in action spreading lime from the paper mill if I can find them.

With a setup like this. someone with a good size tractor could make a lot of money spreading lime for hunting clubs!

I'm not sure if you could or not.............You'd have to have another tractor to load it and potentially a buggy to haul loads to the back of properties to keep from driving back and forth, etc........You'd have to charge a bunch to make good money at it and I'm not sure folks would pay it.....Somebody put a pen and calculator to it..... grin

Yes, you would need another tractor to load it, but I don't think you have to have a buggy to haul lime around. Might take a little longer without buggy, but it certainly can be done. We have limed our 24 fields several times in the past and never had a buggy. We just had the lime dumped as far into the property as they would go. We used between 18 and 20 tons.

Well, pelletized lime is roughly $250 per ton and ag lime is anywhere between $50-$70 per ton but you have to have a spreader for that. You’d be surprised what clubs will pay to get lime spread as most members are too lazy to help do it on a scale to be effective. You could charge $150 per ton to spread it and still be cheaper than pelletized. I more than paid for this spreader by just doing clubs around mine. I never had to travel very far and I required someone with a tractor there to load it. And if you are close to a paper mill, you can get their lime for free. I paid a guy with a dump truck to haul it for me and he would go as far in the club as he could go and dump it. Most clubs these days are only several thousand acres so it’s not that hard to get in and get done. I guarantee you, you could pay for the spreader in a year or two.
