https://imgur.com/a/nTdn1dhcannot recommend Ideal Poulty out of Texas enough - we ordered these RIR chicks at 8am Weds & they arrived at our local PO at noon Thursday - all alive, healthy & active … we’re getting out of our Orpington’s & going straight Rhode Island Reds in 2027 … these little fur balls are so cute as this age 🤣🐥

RIR are the best breed I've had. I used to get mixed batches of chicks and the RIR are always the the last birds living out of the batch .

welp the 1st week is in the books & our baby chicks are doing great! 🐥
but i’d say we’re done with the heat lamp - it’s going to get boiling hot
we called IP (since they’re in Texas & well acquainted with raising chickens in boiling heat conditions) - they basically said keep them in the shade, add electrolytes to their water, and keep them well ventilated (fans)
