How is little Shep doing? I’m praying for him every night.
He's doing great! Running around like nothing ever happened. Finished his final round of chemo on 06/30 and we go back this Thurs to do follow up scans and a hearing test. One interesting development though is that they got his pathology report back from the piece of liver they removed during surgery. Turns out he did not have hepatoblastoma, what he actually had was something called a Calcifying Nested Stromal Epithelial Tumor. Doc says the outlook for it is about the same, if not slightly better, than hepatoblastoma. BUT there are less than 100 documented cases of that tumor worldwide so the unknown there is a little stressful. They also told us that if they had known it was that from the get go then chemo would not have been necessary and it would only have required surgical removal. That in itself is extremely frustrating on our end after watching him go through six rounds of that poison.
Man I hate to hear that news about chemo but glad he is doing well.
