Getting to the time of year where I will spend about 40 hours on an open cab tractor bushhogging and planting food plots. Current cowboy hat is at its end. Looking for a quality hat in the less than $100 range. As much as I would wear it, 100 hours a year, I can get about 10 years out of a hat. What's a good quality hat?
Can’t tell you about cowboy hats but I wear a Columbia Boonie everyday from March through October doing lawns. Generally get two years out of them. Days like today I’ll dunk it about every hour and sling the water off for evaporative cooling.
I wore nothing but Tilley for years. Got the Kuiu one because it was camo and I was hunting a lot in Texas. Rarely wear one of the Tilley hats now, as the Kuiu has better ventilation.
Tilley is at the top of your budget, and has a lifetime warranty that you will never need. My mom wears the first one I bought in 2004 to garden and mow. She probably spends over 100 days a year outside wearing it, not 100 hours.
i have the following straw cowboy hats: Cavenders, Justin, Stetson & Dallas Hats the best made one is the Dallas Hats - i believe i gave around $75 for it style-wise i like the Stetson & Justin hats better - but if durability & longevity is your need, I think the Dallas Hats one would be your best option
I collect felt western hats. I have 5 - 6 Stetson's and last week I contracted Wild Hats out of Louisville, KY to do a custom build for me.
Overland,
I'd go to Boot Barn or Cavender's around B'ham and see what you can find. Those cheap Justins that Outback mentioned from Tractor Supply are plentiful.

Wish you hadnt posted this. Its probably gonna cost me!!
These are great but. Will blow off pretty easy. Tractor or lawn mower you would need the rally strap hook on. Tractor supply straw or cloth hat are my go to. Under $30 when it gets worn out no big deal. Tilleys are nice just not really wide enough.
I like the American Hat Company straws, I've had a few and have 2 now but not sure if they make any under $100 anymore. They're well made and hold up.
American hat brand is hard to beat. Very pricey but they are quality hats. When I buy straw I always buy Charlie One Horse. They just seem to fit better for me and they are very affordable. I wear one at least 7 days a week! A good cowboy hat offers Me the shade I need on the back of my neck and on my ears. They also don’t blow off my head like the hats the Amigos wear when they are out in the sun!
