I feel sorry for ya, dude. This would have devastated me! You want to do everything you can to keep any of the government out of your lives, whether it's DHR, state troopers, "treasury," etc... I had no idea the State could garnish your account though I knew the feds could.

The state is actually worse than the feds when it comes to seizing assets. Back in the early 90s I was audited by the state over a truck allowance I was told I didn’t have to claim. I sent them staffs of paper thinking that would get it resolved. No luck so they were getting ready to go after my checking account. So I had to take them a check to the Gadsden office at the time to make it come to an end. Also had a buddy that had an outstanding bill for an emergency room visit at Boaz hospital. State took his tax refund for that
