Go see a Dr and get on Omeprazole. It's the only thing that has saved me. Continuous heartburn can cause esophageal cancer and I have the pre-cancerous cells to prove it. Good luck.
Omeprazole is an Over the Counter drug so no need to see a Dr, just to get it. If the heartburn persist OP should certainly see a doc. I had what I thought was heartburn while in the country cleaning our shooting houses for the Youth Hunt and planned on going to Monroeville to watch my son play in a playoff game that evening. Went home to lay down to see if the heartburn went away. It didn't so I decided to go to the ER and make it go away before going to the game. Bottom line, I was having a minor heart attack and got two stents put in place the next morning.
