I'm a CPA and I've had plenty of clients with past due taxes but never seen them pull it directly from a bank account. Not saying it did not happen, it just isn't normal procedure from my experience.

In the future, when paying taxes, set up a My Alabama Taxes account and do it from there. You can designate which tax year the payment applies to, set up a payment plan, etc. Plus you have a record of the payment and where it was applied.

You might even could set up the account now and see if it was applied to the wrong tax year or if there is any record of your payment at all.
