So I owed the State of Alabama a tax bill from a 2024 return of about 3500.00 Honestly I just got busy and procrastinated. Got a letter of final notice of seizure on May 5th 2026 for 3506.95. Paid the exact amount due on May 11th via credit card. Have all documentation. About a month later they took 450.00 from my business checking account costing me about 200.00 in NSF fees. Called them up provided said documentation of payment and they said I would be reimbursed minus nsf fees. Still haven’t got that money back. On August 4th they went back into my account and took out 3500.00 Called them up extremely pissed off and again they asked me to provide documentation and they would open up a review but would not tell me how long until I get reimbursed for that. So im out over 4k because these fuck tards in Montgomery can’t communicate between departments. No telling how long it will take. So in a nutshell the Great State of Alabama took MY fucking money out of MY bank account due their own error and I really can’t do a thing about it but wait for them to realize they screwed up and give it back to me. No apologies, no compensation for the bullshit and time Ive wasted having to deal with their incompetence and because of a amendment in our wonderful state constitution no way to file a legal claim against them. So basically they can fuck you over and you can’t do a damn thing about it. How is that even possible???? Anyone dealt with this or got any advice? Thanks.

How did they pull $450 from your checking without authorization?

They file garnishment paperwork with your bank. Then your bank must give them access to your account. They are required to send you a notice of garnishment After they take your money. Im assuming its after so you can’t move it before they take it.

The balance was from a State Business Return. The issue is I paid them with a Credit Card which was received and deposited SOMEWHERE by them but it was not applied to my balance so they have garnished my business bank account. I have the proof of where i paid then with the CC. Its total incompetence on their part and I would like my money back quickly but thats not gonna happen because of they don’t give a shit. Its not their bank account that got incorrectly garnished so they will hold my 3k for probably 2 months til they figure out they screwed up. Meanwhile Im out 4k that would be nice for pay roll, gas, bills. Expenses etc

Every state office in Montgomery is full to the top with DEI hires, which, based on experience, is 98% of the problem. Go sit and wait to get your heavy use tag renewals. You'll sit there all day listening to what Shalondra did with her boyfriend or girlfriend over the weekend, where Tanequa got her nails done and all the other gossip while they sit behind the glass doing absolutely zero actual state work or business, just talking about personal issues while waiting to go on break or to lunch, while 50 working people are sitting in the lobby un-helped, waiting for their number to be called.

You were two years late paying a $3,500 tax bill and the penalty was only $6.95?

“I’m out over 4k because these Fuck Tards in Montgomery can’t communicate between departments”. Wrong, you’re out 4k because you fucked around and didn’t pay your taxes.

I paid my fucking taxes you ignorant asshole. Go crawl back in your hole and if you don’t have anything half way decent to add to the conversation then keep your fucking mouth shut.

This used to be a place where you could ask for some advice/help. Not much like that anymore. I should’ve know better. I just thought that maybe someone on here had gone through this situation and could’ve shared how it worked out for them. Shoulda known I was gonna get a good bit of idiot commentary. Thanks to those who attempted to help. To the others- just remember its a fact- what comes around goes around.

That’s the root of the problem with the Postal Service.

I'm not going to give you any hope. I have a gf that does court reporting some for the State. She complains constantly about the incompetence of her dealings with them in getting paid and reimbursed.

I feel sorry for ya, dude. This would have devastated me! You want to do everything you can to keep any of the government out of your lives, whether it's DHR, state troopers, "treasury," etc... I had no idea the State could garnish your account though I knew the feds could.

In person, with ALL documents is the only way to deal with this situation. And I know it's a pain in the ass to go down there and have a face to face but it's really the best way.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

You could always file a dispute with your CC company and open up that chitstorm.
