The more space the better......I think I'd do 100-150 ft if I had to do it over again......The best producing trees are the ones that are allowed to grow big full rounded crowns
Nothing wrong with that approach either as 40 ft could definitely be too tight for mature oaks. I figured when I get to that point, I could terminate the weaker trees. Also figured I’d lose some a long the way.
