I forgot all about the sign on and sign off of the National Anthem! Anybody remember the old emergency broadcast system that was tested every morning also? Weird looking diagnostic figure that stayed on until the test was over. Those were the days!

Anybody have a buddy who worked in a grocery store and had access to the condoms they kept off the shelves in the back room. Go in the back with your pal and he would sell you all you wanted! Not any of the Older workers would sell them to us teenagers back then. I could go on and on!

My son is in the process of buying 14 acres in Maplesville. Should close in a few days. Has a 2bed 1 bath that needs finished and some repairs. He's wanting to convert to cabin style. Use for a weekend getaway and I'll be helping him do a lot of the work. The purpose is to get away from as much activity as possible, and as few people as possible. Uncomplicate life.

I hate cellphones. I don't even carry mine with me most of the time. Wife makes me have one or I wouldn't have one. I see these mindless idiots every day wasting their lives away staring at stupid youtube videos.

No matter when, everyone looks back to simpler times. Sadly you can never go back. Too much water has gone under the bridge.
We’re living in times when change is rapid and it’s only speeding up.

It just had to be reported. Hand crank windows in single cab pickups, with the vent windows. Kids playing outside from the time they woke up until the sun went down, because that’s all there was to do. Riding bicycles. Drinking from a hose pipe because who ever heard of buying water in a plastic bottle? Homemade ice cream or an iced down watermelon was a huge treat. Eating fast food was done maybe 2-3 times a year. Eating out at a restaurant was maybe once every month or two. Hee Haw on Saturday nights, Bill Dance on Saturday afternoon, cartoons on Saturday morning. Church/community socials was where you saw folks and got caught up with them. I could go on and on.

Me too. If I didn't need it to make a living I'd frisbee the dang thing out into the lake.

I remember being deployed in South America and you only got to call home when the satellite was over our field base camp. Which was once every few weeks. Then the radio operator would dispatch you to the closest military base by your home town. Then that operator would call your mom and dad’s house. And you damn sure didn’t tell them exactly where you were.

After running wild in the woods behind our house, most of the day, you knew it was time to head home, but you didn’t. You could hear you mom, when she stepped won the porch & hollered your name. I believe I could hear her better than a quarter of a mile away. And I got to where I could tell by her voice if it was urgent, or just time to head home.

I remember 30-30s in the rear window of pickup trucks in the high school parking lot. Those were the days.

There is nothing wrong with looking back and relishing the old days, just don't expect them to come back. The world moves on, we have to as well.

I miss everything I did in the 70’s and 80’s. Remember when dove shoots were a community event, and you didn’t have to pay?

When I got home from Bootcamp, Mom lived in Pensacola. I had orders to a ship in Boston.

My young dumb ass didn't even know where Boston was, just up North. Pulled out an Atlas, and was like damn, that's way up
there.

Packed my stuff and headed North. After about 2 hours, I realized I had forgot the Atlas. Just drove North on the coast until I found it.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

Young people thing Boomers are dumbasses, but by God we could head off on a motorcycle across the country with nothing but a map. No GPS, no Cell Phone, a tent and a sleeping bag strapped to the back.
