I see the irony of typing this on an Internet forum, and I know it’s been said on here before, but lately I have had such a longing for the old days. Days without the internet, cell phones, computers, satellite/streaming tv. Not having instant news of something that happened 800 miles away, that didn’t even affect us in any manner. It just had to be reported. Hand crank windows in single cab pickups, with the vent windows. Kids playing outside from the time they woke up until the sun went down, because that’s all there was to do. Riding bicycles. Drinking from a hose pipe because who ever heard of buying water in a plastic bottle? Homemade ice cream or an iced down watermelon was a huge treat. Eating fast food was done maybe 2-3 times a year. Eating out at a restaurant was maybe once every month or two. Hee Haw on Saturday nights, Bill Dance on Saturday afternoon, cartoons on Saturday morning. Church/community socials was where you saw folks and got caught up with them. I could go on and on.

I miss those days as well and I'll add......... squirrel hunting as a kid in every scope of woods around. The property owners didn't care as long as any gates that were opened were also closed.

I remember the first time I ever heard anything about this thing called internet……It was in a Finite Math class in the 10th grade around 1993-94…….I remember the teacher and a few students gathered around a computer messing around with what I guess was one of the first basic versions of it……. They say the folks who have gotten to know both ways have lived during a pretty unique generation

I used to love the Grumpy Old Man skits on SNL.

I'm amazed we survived through the 60's, 70's and 80's.

My first taste of new technology was when I was starting my business and I was told by loan people they needed some info faxed to them that day. My response was, what’s a fax?

I remember back in college when personal computers were just really starting to be popular for the average person. My first computer class literally started with learning where the power button was and the fact that a monitor and a processor each had a power button.

I miss the old times also! I dated my wife in my F-250 that only had an AM/FM radio in it with no AC. I was in high cotton when I put a sliding back glass in it to allow the air to flow through. I miss the old dimmer switch on the left side of the drivers floor board as well as the vinyl floor mats that you just sprayed off with a water hose. Those were some shining times!

Well there’s no going back so one may as well embrace it. I get what you are saying though.

I enjoy all the knowledge that’s readily available now. Ideas that are good and bad. Most people are awkward in public settings any how.

I remember writing and running command line scripts in MSDOS.

I remember back when we had WERC radio on AM, because there was no FM. Then when FM came out, we had WERC simulcast on both AM & FM. I remember later when most all the AM stations became "Talk Radio" and most of the FM stations were music, because it was stereo.

I remember piling in the car with a bunch of friends and heading to Panama City for the weekend. No GPS. We just got on 231 and headed south. Then as soon as we crossed the Florida line there was usually a liquor store. Legal drinking age was 18, and we usually had somebody in the car that was 18 or had a fake ID. Then we just kept on going until we ran out of road and partied all weekend.

When you felt like you didn’t need to have your 380 or larger under the seat. Now its with you every where you go.

45 and didn't get a phone until 02. My step-dad had one very early 90s only because of runnin a business a he needed to keep up with Goobers lmao. Shit take phone away from any folks these days Old n Young & they be lost, just way it is.
