They wont use all 1,400 acres. It may get whittled down to about 300 acres of actual panels. Still that chunk of land will effectively be lost. . How will the understory be maintained across a property like this?.....Will they use sheep?.....Seems like I read that somewhere One's that I've seen along Interstate 10 look like they just drive around and spray everything with a hot batch of gly every couple months.

They do that or contractors mow the area on a regular schedule and wash the panels. There are companies now that only do solar farm washing and grass cutting.

Assuming there’s no massive environmental hazards that go along with the panels themselves it may not be as bad for the local wildlife as it seems like on the surface…..If they would do something other than scorched Earth spraying then there will likely still be a lot of deer food being grown at ground level…….I'd have to think they would want to maintain some kind of vegetation for erosion purposes

Wouldn't some Dutch white clover be the least expensive option to maintain over time??...  ..Probably wouldnt even have to mow it....

I’ve seen some commercial high rise buildings put them on the roof which is a horrible idea unless they are elevated so maintenance can be done to the building underneath. I have one right now that some people are wanting me to hang a swing stage (window washing unit) on a building but they came back and have put solar panels all over the top and I have no room to work or put my rigging. So basically they are SOL and will have to spend a whole lot more money to access the wall for maintenance coming from the ground up, rather than coming from the roof down.

Some years ago our state legislators said the state of Alabama was too rural for a state lottery, said because of that a state lottery wouldn't work for Alabama, but now lookit... here comes solar farms and Alabama has the land to spare for solar farms and the data centers they'll provide power to. Baldwin county is fighting a massive solar farm data center project right now and it's starting to look like the solar farm conglomerates are going to win.
