That’s a great point. MA is better at sports so get rid of them so the teams that aren’t as good can win some.

I didn't say get rid of 'em, you did. When it comes to state playoffs, they can play other recruited , loaded private schools.

You said it was long overdue. That implies that you are in favor of getting them out of your playoff system.

Your second sentence supports you wanting to get rid of them.

OK , let's try this again. I think it's ok if the private schools play public schools during regular season . However , when it comes to the state play-offs / championships , they should play their own kind. Read it slooooooow, got it?

That's my opinion and I reckon Skinny doesn't mind me expressing it here.

Don't know if there's any that remember Holy Family's basketball team in the mid '70s. They were A or tiny AA and had two future D1 players ( Mitch Myers and Earl Banks) and a D2 player. They dominated their classification and could have , most likely, beaten any team , regardless of classification in the state. I understand they asked the higher classification, state champion teams to play them and they wisely wouldn't. I reckon some would think that's fair.

I remember the Holy Family team of 1984,1985 season beat Millport in final game for 2a championship, which dominated everyone else, played on football team that won 2a in 84 & 1a in 83,34 game winning streak with all home town boys & only 1 D1 prospect & 2 that went to Jacksonville State ,we all started playing together in Tball & were a very close group ,also beat 3a champion that year.

Only saw Holy Family play two basketball games in, (I believe), '76, in the state play offs. It was like men playing with boys. You couldn't do anything inside, couldn't rebound. You could go up for a shot, way outside and Earl Banks would smack it into the upper bleachers.

Nope 2Dogs I read it just fine the first time. You have now said it twice… get the good teams out of the way so that the bad teams can win some. Please explain to me how that is not exactly what you are saying.

I don’t mind you expressing your opinion at any time and I encourage you to do it no matter what skinny thinks. That don’t mean it’s factual, but it makes for good conversation. Sometimes.

I really couldn't give 2 craps about it myself. It's just about kids playing games with balls.

I’m extremely hard headed about it. I know how hard private schools work to make their schools great. It aggravates me that other schools whine about getting out worked. It’s always someone else’s fault you lost. The refs, the private schools, the coach is an idiot.

I know the majority of the arguments here are not going to be changed and the topics are baseball and football. Here is some food for thought. Look at the smaller sports and ask if their is a balance in competitiveness. Here is the last 20 year winners in 5a Volleyball. Only 3 public schools have won.
Here are the AHSAA Class 5A Volleyball State Champions for the last 20 completed seasons (2006–2025):

Year Class 5A State Champion
2025 Guntersville High School
2024 UMS-Wright Preparatory School
2023 Montgomery Academy
2022 Westminster Christian Academy
2021 Bayside Academy
2020 Bayside Academy
2019 Jasper High School
2018 Jasper High School
2017 Alexandria High School
2016 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2015 Randolph School
2014 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2013 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2012 Hartselle High School
2011 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2010 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2009 Faith Academy
2008 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2007 St. Paul's Episcopal School
2006 St. Paul's Episcopal School

Agreed. There isn’t a balance of competitiveness. Why should each school start with the same opportunity? Opportunities are heavily impacted by choices made. Those schools that set themselves up to be successful have a greater opportunity to be successful.
