I was always taught the formula for age appropriateness was Half your Age plus 7.
So a 60 year old dude can get away with a 37 year old woman.
A 20 year old dude can get a way with a 17 year old girl if its legal. Only getting involved in this to point out that the legal age of consent in AL is 16. as long as they are 16 you can legally diddle them but you can go to jail for giving them a cigarette afterwards on the charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. Not kidding. If they are under the age of 16 then the other person has to be more than 2 years older. In other words, a 15 year old girl having sex with an 18 year old boy is Rape 2nd in AL. That is very seldom prosecuted though. In my years of these cases they often come up when the girl is pregnant and her momma wants the boy jailed but often just uses the threat of a charge as leverage in Child Support discussions. Of course, prosecutors hate being used like this. FYI, 12 - 16 is Rape 2nd and under 12 is Rape 1st. Then there are all the considerations of forcible compulsion and mental capacity that can get involved. Clear as mud isn't it? That is why I always urge fathers of young men to keep the wick dry until they are certain of the partner's intents and stability.
