Taxing and Registering inert sound suppressors (hearing protection devices) never made sense to start with. Even the most stringent gun control countries don’t require registration.

How long will it take before you can walk in and buy one just like buying a sling for your rifle? That's what I'm waiting for. And what does this mean for DIY's? You could already legally make one, but you had to have it engraved with a serial number and still get it approved before you could put it on a firearm. so when can I legally build my own .22 suppressor without having to register anything?

So did Massie do it all by himself or did others help the cause It was brought up by GOA and Massie along with other like minded members of congress gave assistance to the legal fight. He's not a bad guy, he often does things more in line with what you would approve of than you think. His 2A stance, voting record, and introduced bills make him one of the most ardent 2A supporters in the political circus today.

It's not a win win situation, yes, we would like them to be an over-the-counter purchase but if that happens then they are not protected by the NFA act. The next democrat that gets elected can outlaw them with just a signature. Right now, they would have to go through congress to get them outlawed. As far as cost, right now there are tons of new suppressor companies popping up. Prices on some cans are stupid cheap but remember you get what you pay for most of the time. I have shot tons of cans; there is a quality difference. I will be in Simmons Thursday and Friday at a promo if anyone wants to come talk suppressors.

- Wait and see what happens (prices will drop like a rock in ~6 months)
- Jump in ASAP and hope if they change things you will be grandfathered in I'll buy a suppressor the day they are hanging in a blister pack, on a peg, somewhere between the slings and recoil pads, for < $100. It's a "want", not a "need"
