What all started as a "I think I'll swing by Van's for a look around" has turned into a most fun and useful tool. It's a new 21 shot M&P22X with a Sohart suppressor. The little pistol is a dream for running around the property, kayaking and hiking trips, etc. Add the can and it doesn't bother the neighbors or draw unwanted attention. It also doesn't blow what remaining hearing I have out. It doesn't spook the dogs or hurt their ears. As I said, very useful. All up, with the compact Olight light/laser, Holosun optic and a full magazine she weighs in around 26oz. and is 24hr capable. Heck, it even works with NODS. With the Cole-Tac Varmint Wrangler holster it carries well and the suppressor length isn't a hinderance. It's probably the perfect solution to the problem encountered HERE. Now, when I'm out on the property the 22x is on quiet rattler duty...

I know I'm late to the party and many of y'all have already gone down this road. For those that haven't and have the need, it's well worth the $$$.

The loadout. Knife is a Southern Grind Jackal Pup. I added it because the double stack mags don't fit in the mag pouch designed for single stack 22 mags and I love my fixed blade knives. Both the pistol and knife will be easily accessible seated in a kayak or truck. The Cole-Tac holster is a great product and the perfect solution for carrying with the suppressor.

I’ve been looking for a lighter solution vs my 22/45. I’ll have to check weights. I’d prefer smaller, too….so was looking into the Beretta bobcats, but optics? was unresolved. The Cole-Tac stuff is good, and if I need double stack rimfire mag storage, I might see if they’d make one with a larger mag pouch, since they do some custom sewing, or did. I’ll probably run another RXD, with the quick Chang muzzle device…..makes it fast to install/uninstall if I throw it in a turkey vest for hogs, etc. wink

Originally I was looking at the Rugers and Browning Buckmark but the size and weights were a bit much. Then the salesman showed me a 22x and the rest is history. Really like the pistol and I wasn't impressed with the original M&P22 or 22 Compact (owned both). The 22x just seems much better made and the 20 round mag is awesome. As for the mag pouch, I think the knife might actually be of more use to me. I can always carry a spare mag elsewhere.

Yeah, running 36 grain HP Mini-Mags since I have them in stock. They run right under the speed of sound out of the 22x. I did fire a few CCI Semi-Auto Quiet rounds. They are comically quiet with the can, but under powered.

My latest carry rig is the S&W M&P 5.7 with a Rugged Oculus suppressor. Not as quiet, fits the same holster, but a lot more powerful.

I can save you some money! Look into the Lyman Sonicore 22. I just got mine and have it on my 22/45. For $199 it is a steal. It is modular and can me cleaned easily and works great!

That's good to know. Lyman is gonna change the suppressor market for the better. If Van's would have had the Lyman I'd have considered it, but the Sohart is made locally (Bremen) and I really wanted to support them because of that.

I’ve got a cheap rimfire can that’s built exactly like the Lyman. I don’t even like to run it much anymore, since using top tier rimfire cans such as Dead Air, etc.

Yep, the Ruger's are awesome. I've got two bull barrel MKII Rugers. Unfortunately, none of them were threaded back in their era (and they are heavy). I'm still considering a Tac-Sol Pac Lite upper for one of them.

Well that settled it. As soon as I get over my back surgery, I am going to get my Marlin 25 cut to 17" and threaded . Lyman can on the end, can't help it, I love a bargain!!

Sonicore makes a great can, I carry all their models. I bet we sell 40 of the 22 cans a week.

I shouldn’t go in gun shops. I tripped over one of the Smiths at Cabela’s and it was a deal I didn’t pass up. Already had a spare RDS, and waiting on another rimfire can as well.

Congrats. You'll love it. Go put 200-300 rounds thru it for break in. Mine has functioned great from the start but really smoothed up with a few rounds down the pipe.
