Why do they make you set a time when they never take you back at the at time?

I walked out of one back in June....it was an hour and a half AFTER my appointment time. Keep in mind they have a sign up on their check in window that says if you're more than 15 minutes late, you'll be charged a rescheduling fee.

I finally got fed up, told them I had somewhere to be and they'd have to reschedule it for another time. I didn't tell them I had my kayak in the truck and "somewhere to be" was the lake.

I caught a bunch of fish that day, too.

I’m at the hour mark and bout ready to head out. Definitely the longest I’ve waited.

Sometimes they forget, they work for us.

Not all are like that. A lot of specialist are unfortunately like that, though.

I change Dr's because of his wait time. Great Dr, but wasn't worth the wait

I don’t have this problem with my GP. Yesterday waiting to have my procedure done while I waited in a hospital gown right by the nurses station, was mere minutes from punching a pharm rep in the neck. Every time the doc came out in between procedures, he wanted to shoot the breeze about houses, cars, airplanes etc etc. meanwhile I was pacing the floor in pain. All he wanted to do was brown nose the doc. Honestly the doc should have made him kick rocks. That cunt had me pissed the hell off.

I'm at a ENT doc now. My appointment was at 3:15 p.m. I'm still waitin'...

My GP has been good at keeping waiting times down. I find out tomorrow if this is still the case. And, I will say that he's never in a rush once he gets in the room with me. We have our conversation about whatever issues I had and what I have now and he takes his time with me. On the other hand, I have kicked a chiropractor to the curb due to the assembly line operation that he has where he almost runs from room to room. I can tolerate a little wait IF you're gonna spend time with me but not if you're in a run the whole time.

I fired my prostate cancer doc because he wouldn't see me in a timely manner....he really didn't like it. Banned me from seeing any other docs in his group. Fuck him.

I don't think I have ever waited longer than 5-10 minutes for my PCP at UAB; he is good. He or his PA/NP answer all portal messages in less than 24 hours.

Mine doesn't do that. Not my general anyway. Walk in, walk back, be seen, leave. No wait.

I've walked out of a whole bunch of appointments over the years. A few have stopped me at the door and asked politely to return and I was seen pretty fast after.

A few never even asked what happened to me. Never saw me leave.

One (dentist) was late and expected me to wait 1.5 hours for her to get to me. Then called me to chew on me for leaving, and I lit her up. Then left an honest but blazingly negative review. Arrogant was what she was.

Then there was the doc in the box about a decade back. Took me to a room that afternoon. I was bad sick and fell asleep. Woke up, checked the time and it was 10 minutes after closing time.

They'd locked the doors and the last person was shutting off the lights, getting ready to leave out the back. When they walked past me standing in the room door. Scared the piss out of them. They escorted me out the front and asked me to return when they opened. It was an office worker, not a medical person. They didn't even have the courtesy to call me until three days later.

Our medical system is severely broken. If I make an appointment, I don't expect to wait more than 15 minutes, ever. That's the point of an appointment.

UAB is a different ballgame altogether compared to Dr's in Montgomery. I've always been pleased at UAB

I’ve read stories of several doc in the box joints that have closed up with sleeping or forgotten about patients in exam rooms.

I bounced on my regular doc about 8 or 9 years ago. Had a 2pm appointment, got there on time with a splitting sinus headache. Was sure I had a sinus infection & probably did but after an hour in the outside lobby I decided I’d rather go home to die or fight it on my own w’ over the counter meds. Told the receptionist that I had to go & she said she understood. Only time that ever happened. Stuff happens & they get behind, I get it, but I have little patience for it. That man was a great doc & I hate he retired

Just wait until the Demoncrats get "Medicare for All" passed - wait times will be measured in months instead of minutes or hours! It's coming if the "silent majority" doesn't get off our collective asses and take this country back!!!

I’ve learned the later in the day the appointment the worse the wait for the actual doc. Nurse practitioners are usually spot on. I have two docs that do rounds at the hospital so that factors in. I’ve had to reschedule several times with my cardiologist. She’s been called in for an emergency procedures. Wasn’t a biggy for me

My wife is a diagnostic ultra sonographer. She complains all the time about the schedulers (ultimately the doctors) adding on patients and how it makes the ones on the schedules have to wait. Makes her feel horrible for them but ultimately it’s not her call.

Similar to Fatty’s situation above, my dad fell asleep in an examination room. Woke up and noticed the time and that he didn’t hear anything. Opens the door and all the lights are off. They had closed up, locked him in, and went home. He had to use their phone (this was back in the late 80’s when cellphones weren’t common) to call the doctors office he was in to get the recording for an emergency contact. Then he had to call them to come let him out. The office manager sent him a big flower arrangement and fruit basket the next day.
