I guess this all got started with the whole "Trust the science" and Covid, but now it seems that it has gotten so bad that we trust "some guy on the internet" more than we trust our own doctor.
I'm not saying it's wrong or unjustified, but it's just interesting human behavior...
My brother in law who is a mountain of a man, has lost a bunch of weight, by resorting to some kind of black market GLP-1 stuff that he injects into his body. I guess it comes from China, but no one knows what's really in it.
The thing is, he used to be really jacked and with the right commitment in the weight room and some healthy eating, he could literally look like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

So; he is buying this stuff off the "black market", not prescribed by his Dr.? Not knowing what's in it? Trying to save money?

yup. Covid destroyed a lot of trust in the medical profession and have sent people seeking alternatives. Internet snake oil salesmen are becoming the new norm.
Keep in mind that Ivermectin is one hell of a great drug for many things but it does not cure everything. People are taking it for hemorrhoids and toothaches.

Remember back when colloidal silver was the big thing? There was this guy who took so much of the stuff he turned blue. I just Googled it and he lived to the ripe old age of 62.

Some of the medical professionals are very good some are not so good I started seeing a urologist after my last kidney stone episode He told me there were no more stones showing up on scans but he wanted me to take Flowmax to help with clearing the infection so I agreed to that I get the prescription and it’s a 90 day supply so I take them for 7 days as discussed My follow up appointment he tells me he want me to permanently take this drug though my PSA is 0.2 and my prostate is normal size and my flow is like an 18 year old I told him quick like I will not be on a medication that there is no medical reason for to take He didn’t like it at all and on my next visit if he persists I’ll fire him and find another doctor
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

Mothers best friend was a nurse who worked on the Tuskegee project her advice on vaccines was wait ten years after introduction of a vaccine before using it.

Even some really good doctors got fooled by the covid vaccine debacle. I saw microbiologists with decades of experience in dealing with infectious disease get fooled by it. They literally turned against their own lessons.

I can assure that colloidal silver works well. Been making it & using it for a long time. Argeria, i think that's how you spell it, is the condition where the skin turns blue. Not sure of the full details, but i do know he was making it himself in a very unconventional manner. He was also drinking massive amounts. You can buy colloidal silver in health food stores or get a proper machine & make it yourself. Nobody will turn blue by using silver made right. I'm still a honky. Even if one turned blue, the condition is harmless. That dude didn't die from silver ingestion.

I think distrust in general has grown a lot in the last 20 years. Probably thanks to the internet. Distrust in politicians, doctors, food companies, drug companies. I look at social media and see people putting on the show of a perfect life. If you know them you would know their life is far from perfect.
Irish you are a good example of how hard work and discipline over a long length of time can get you the physical results you want. Most people have that option as well. Some don’t due to physical issues, chemical issues, or hormonal issues. But most do.
I think the level of care that doctors and hospitals give has gone down hill dramatically. You hear so much about doctors prescribing meds that patients don’t typically need. Doctors are pushed by pharmaceutical sales companies to prescribe their drugs. They get wined and dined. Prescribe my meds over these others. Typical sales stuff and I get it. But a lot of docs feel like if they don’t prescribe a drug they aren’t doing their job. And that’s not a good thing.

Funny enough I just saw yesterday where RFK Jr did an about face and recommended people get the measles vaccine. Which I agree with. Obviously most of the vaccines work or we’d know people in iron lungs with polio, people would still be dying of smallpox, etc.
Some of these infectious diseases are entirely preventable.

I'll say the same thing I said during COVID, if you don't trust your doctor, you need to find a new one. I live 200 miles away and still see my old doctor in Selma. If I need something urgent I have probably a dozen or so Urgent Care places close to me. They all advertise that they also do primary care, but you never know who is going to see you. My mother in law, who lives with us, sees the same doctor in Selma that I do. She's down there this week for an appointment. Someone asked my wife the other day why MIL still goes to Selma for appointments and I said "The same reason I do, we trust Dr. Burns". He's been really good to us and often we can deal with prescription stuff over the phone. Yes, he'll actually call you back. I have his home and personal cell number. Of course, I don't call him unless it is non work related or something easy to handle, but needs to be handled soon.
I used to have the best mechanic in Selma that I trusted completely. A good trusted mechanic is a blessing. He passed away right before we moved (RIP Alan). A good trusted doctor is like a good trusted mechanic, both are invaluable when our vehicles and our bodies get older.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I’m in the profession and I’ve lost most of my faith in it. and they got you by the balls if you dare say anything to the patient about safety and complications that they deem to be out of bounds. I hate that for ya'll.

You HAVE to be your own advocate! You can get a second or third opinion. You can add natural products to your diet to help against those stones. i.e. lemon in your water, organic apple cider vinegar, etc... those help break down calcium. But you are probably already doing that. His suggestion for you to stay on a drug to keep from having kidney stones with no other ailments is worth raising your eyebrow for! Keep on questioning.

My doctor was in full agreement with me about the entire Covid thing. I like them. They recently got on to me for not visiting. Apparently I don't frequent the office enough for the subscription I pay. So I had them schedule for for two weeks from now. I only bother them when I'm really sick or in bad enough pain I cannot function. Even then I do it remotely. Otherwise I leave them alone.
Wonder what happened to the doctor that was on here trying to debate Covid? Damned near everything we were saying was true. Truth wins out in the end.
Wonder how many of his patients died from his advice? I couldn't live with myself if I'd done that to people.
I don't trust Government at all. I said back then it was no worse than the flu. The difference was the medical community was killing people in the treatment. If you remove those who died because of the incorrect care given from the numbers, along with all the car accidents, murders and suicides who were listed as Covid because they tested positive, I'd be the real numbers are even lower.
It was a population control operation to gain power and thin the population of those who would likely have voted against those the operation wanted in office. Plain Jane Murder. And the medical community went along and are complicit. As are many others.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
