We saw one in the Wheeler wildlife refuge many years ago. Seen several on Wheeler while fishing. I went noodling on Lay Lake with a bunch of friends one time. I had to have quite a bit of tequila before I quit worrying about gators in some of those shallow grassy areas. Boho can vouch for that trip.

We just have to learn to live in their world and not the other way around. Statements like that amaze me. It's not their world, it’s ours. People are most important, especially over some overgrown lizard. Well I’m done for today. I just read the dumbest thing you’ll ever find on the internet. The fact (actual truth) is that People serve no purpose on this planet. All we do is ruin it.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

I'm with Outback. The gators were here first. We just have to learn to live in their world and not the other way around. They play an important role in the ecosystem. If this means your little Johnny or Susie can't swim or play in the waters in certain areas, so be it. I don't see all the Cajuns around Venice complaining about it. Alligators are as abundant as mosquitoes around here. Everywhere you look there are gators. A couple months ago Raven and I was outside and she ran up to me with that stupid look she gets when something ain’t right. She takes off and runs under the house. I hear her barking and raising hell and as I get closer I hear a loud hissing sound. As I get down to look I see it’s an alligator. Raven has it cornered and I holler her name and she goes in for the kill. Well being a rookie gator killer, she grabbed it by the tail. The gator spun around a latched on to her shoulder. This is when the circus started and I went to laughing. She quickly turned the gator loose but the gator wouldn’t turn her loose and she wasn’t real sure what to do or which way to go. She finally spun the gator off of her. Now she’s really pissed off but ain’t real sure what to do. She’s barking, growling, and making sure she keeps a safe distance from its mouth. She corners it again and I’m able to get under the house and grab it. Well now that I have control of the gator, Raven gets real brave now and decides to attack the gator in my hands. Ok, I’m not a small, agile individual and I’m on my hands and knees trying to control the gator and keep Raven the gator killer away. It’s a total chit show!! I finally make it out from under the house and the gator, myself, and Raven are full of red dirt. I’m walking around with the gator in my hands looking for a rope and the whole time Raven is trying to tear this thing apart. I get a rope and tie the mouth shut and hobble it so it can’t get away. I set it on the ground and now Raven won’t get within 6’ of the gator. Ya she’s a bad dog!! I grab it to put it on the 4 wheeler and Raven the gator killer shows back up. Now she’s brave again. I load it up and bring it out back to a canal and chunk it in there. It’s always an adventure around here. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/xTTGDWsy/IMG-0424.jpg) That would have been aldeer gold if you could've videoed that encounter! Raven's shoulder heal up okay? She was fine. It didn’t puncture the skin. However it did scare the heck out of her. Especially when she couldn’t get away from it.

We saw one in the Wheeler wildlife refuge many years ago. Seen several on Wheeler while fishing. Saw my first one in Wheeler back in the summer of 1983 while fishing in Garth Slough. They've been spotted north of Memphis a couple of times in some tributaries. Also a handful of times northeast of Chattanooga. TWRA claimed those were "probably released," which is always the default response.

Humans are the only life form who (from birth) set about destroying our world. We are the only life form on the planet to generate garbage, create poison, pollute our night sky with artificial light, drown out the natural sound of life with unnecessary noise and cover the earth with concrete. We are so arrogant that we convince ourselves God gave us this world as some kind of toy to play with and so hypocritical that we believe ourselves to be superior to all other beings who do not destroy the ecosystem. If we’re honest, the truth is we all deserve to be eaten by alligators. On the bright side, we’re also the only animals who can have sex purely for pleasure. So that’s a plus. 🤣👍

Personally, for me it is the Cahaba River about Perry County, but I've seen plenty of photos from Wheeler. I have never actually laid eyes on one, but I have found tracks, nests and gator slides into the water as far up the cahaba as centreville and even back up into some of the cahaba tributaries like the Ocmulgee that cuts Dallas and Perry county in half.
