I hunt about 16 miles due east of there. You'll get some slight variations in timing but rut usually kicks up around Robert E. Lee day and can run through early Feb. Deer numbers should be strong and if neighbors practice trigger restraint, the area can produce some nice deer. Proximity to Troy is great for supplies and the gas station in Banks has a good breakfast.
It is always good to know where there are good places to eat. I like Chicken Shack in Luverne when I'm there.
