The southern Appalachian chain has a lot of gold that has yet to be mined. Its all in hard rock and quartz but its there. Because the price is high and it looks to be going higher old mines will be opening back up. They will say they are mining quartz but the gold is the real target and the quartz just pays the mining costs. The Tallapoosa drainage has more than the Coosa drainage and several mine entrances are on or rather under Lake Martin. There used to be two US Mints, one in Charlotte and the other in Dehlonega, Georgia. The gold coins minted at those mints fetch high prices on the collector market.
