I love a 16, but the 1100s and 870s never tripped my trigger. They are both built on a 12 gauge frame. If I'm going to carry a large framed gun, I'd just assume have a 12. I much prefer a Winchester model 12 or Browning A5 in a 16. If I was after a Remington auto in a 16, I'd look for an older 11-48. Kinda of waaaaaaa….. have to say a 16 is barely at all smaller than a 12 and to actually worry about one step down is yeah…….the full size older 20g 1100 shoot very smooth with less recoil. The LT20 are smaller and lighter but that comes with a price….and hey if you need to find a replacement stock or forearm it’s a lot easier with 1100/1187/870/742 compatibility.
