Clarke prep in grove hill has taken several good white athletes from us in spurts over last several years also - but they still suck in team sports overall.


I was talking to another coach from around Montgomery yesterday. A public school assistant coach. He made a good point. I’ll share it with you Tdog. Since you brought up Thomasville High School and Mobile Christian I’ll use them as an example.

In 2023 (according to Gemini pro AI) here is what each school received for their “per pupil expenditure”)

Thomasville High School : $14,502
Mobile Christian High School: $8,200

Number of players not paying tuition on the football team:

Thomasville: 100%
Mobile Christian: 14% (that is estimated. I knew of most of their players over the years. Probably close to 3/35 on the team. I used the number 5/35 on the team to be on the high side. Even if that number is much higher, it’s nowhere near 100% like Thomasville)

Both teams have to follow the same set of AHSAA rules except Mobile Christian is penalized by competitive balance and the 1.3 multiplier.


So why is Thomasville at a disadvantage? They have nearly twice the money per student mobile Christian has and All their Football players are on scholarship. Is it just their location that puts them at a disadvantage? So we are going to penalize Mobile Christian because of the location of their campus?

Someone make it make sense to me.
