a buddy of mine is looking for a small outboard for a 1448 jon boat. He's relatively new to boats and bought it with a mud motor that ended up not doing as well as he was told it did and unfortunately he didn't test drive it first. Don't need anything fancy as long as it's reliable. Budget is up to $1000 and ideally looking for 15-25hp. Just wants something that will plane out a 1448 with him and his wife, doesn't have to be fast as long as it'll get the boat on plane.

I've seen that one and several others, but he's already gotten burned on FB once......I was hoping to find one here from someone I "know" in hopes of it being a little more trustworthy Hear what ya putting down, but he gonna keep getting burned ifn he don't do a once over, had a member on here (well not on here currently) buy some items from a avid poster on here and they FORGOT to leave one item, and he just got excuses from him 😂

Told him best he can do is see how temperamental it is on a cold start, make sure it's got decent/consistent compression, make sure it pisses and check the foot oil for water and that's about the best he can do

If they can build a stealth fighter jet, a nuclear aircraft carrier and a particle collider, certainly they can build a decent outboard motor.
