I remember my grandma using an old singer that hade a foot pedal that turned a flywheel to make it go. This was in the early 70's. She was too. I'm not sure where it ended up. Probably with one of my aunts.
She had a gas stove and heaters that all had to be lit with kitchen matches when I was a young-un. Man, she sure was an artist with that old stove. I can't remember even one time when she didn't have some kind of home-made sweets for us kids. Mom knew better than to tell us no at Granny's house. Tea-cakes, oatmeal cookies, pies, pudding, cakes, brownies, fudge, cobblers, etc. And never from a box. Oh, and she was diabetic, so she couldn't partake of any of it herself. What she served up was pure love.
