One of the first steps toward the downfall of this country, was the invention of the 40hr work week. You put a cap on how much you work, you put a cap on how much you can make. Cant buy a truck with your 40 hour pay check, get another job and work 80!

Two models of Skeeter's new bass boat start at $102,000.
Screw that. I'll get a cane pole and sit on the bank. I paid cash for a "top of the line" 18' Skeeter Starfire in 1987 with a Black Max 150; $13,700. Loved to hear that 2 stroke screaming down the Coosa at first light throwing a 50 yard rooster tail from the chopper prop.

Yup, that came later in 1940 with the labor movement. Bankers liked it because it made budgeting easier and it gave workers less time to actually come to the bank to withdraw their money.

Screw that. I'll get a cane pole and sit on the bank. That’s only $299/month if you finance it for 30 years. I bought a boat back in May. The salesman kept insisting that I finance it. So out of curiosity I asked 2 questions. What would be the rate assuming I had excellent credit and for how long did they want to finance it for. If you ask them directly those two questions, it's not always easy to get a direct answer. They really are more interested in telling you that your payments will only be $XXX.XX. When he finally answered, it was just under 7% which isn't real bad, but the minimum time they would finance was 10 years, and up to 20 years. Noooo Thank-you!

Then they got the women to buy into working 40 hours a week so they'd have a bigger tax pool to pull from
That opened the door for them to get a hold on the children
Then they started indoctrinating the children
Then they sold them on the need for college so they could chain them with generational debt and indoctrinate them further
ad nauseam

Young people need to work harder and stop buying $6 coffee! By Gawt! They should take peanut butter sammiches to work! $20 an hour is a lot of money! I always laugh when someone blames "young folks" financial hardship on "buying Starbucks every day" (I'm not sure why Starbucks gets singled out so often in this discussion, but it does). Lets assume they buy one EVERY DAY on the way to work and let's say, conservatively, that they take 2 weeks vacation each year. Worst case scenario, they're buying 250 starbucks drinks/year (50 weeks x 5/week). At $6 ea, that's $1500 per year. Starbucks ain't the reason folks can't buy a house or car. ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/Y028hLKQ/IMG-2951.png)

We went from basically 0 debt in 1970 -1980 to $5 Trillion in 2000 It's roughly doubled every decade since 2000
This is about the time we started dumping money into stupid wars and then importing those we were at war with and paying for them to live here while we allowed our industries to be sent to all the low IQ countries.

“Why doesn’t anyone want to work for $15.75 an hour??!!” Because a single cab work truck is $50,000 and a decent(notice how I didn’t say extravagant) house not in BFE is $300,000-400,000 I bought my first house in Leeds, Alabama in a nice little neighborhood called Bridle Trace. I bought it for $34k. 3 bedroom 2 bath. That was in the late 80's. That house was probably 1.5-2X’ish your annual income? Which today for most is a complete pipedream. Someone will be around soon enough to say pull yourself up by the bootstraps I did the math on this back in April and posted the figures...in a similar thread When adjusted for inflation, average annual income is only 12% higher than it was in 1990, but vehicles cost 34% more than they did in 1990, houses cost 80% more than they did in 1990 and a college education costs 3x what it did in 1990. We had about a $400 a month house payment back then. Two shitty used cars. Two kids. And we literally ate Beans, rice, cornbread, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, Hamburger Helper and cereal. Things like Spaghetti, tacos, burgers and dogs, and Heaven forbid, steaks or a roasted whole chicken was a special meal.

Soooo, any idea what your household income was at the time of purchasing said $34,000 house?
According to Google the median household income in 1988 was $27,230 which would be 1.25X the US median household income for a $34,000 purchase price.

Vehicle prices up more than 30% because of Obama and housing is up 80% because of Obiden. As if we need more reasons to never vote democrat.
I hate making a good first impression. There’s no way I can keep that shit up.

The irresponsibility that led to the 2008 crisis, and then the Covid massive inflation, and now the war inflation, is why we are where we are at. It cant be pegged to any political party except both of them. When Richard Nixon took us off the gold standard and put us on the petro-dollar "war required to keep it" system, we defaulted on our debt as a nation.

I’ve owned two fords with the ecoboost and after replacing all of the coolant lines in both turbos I’ll never own another.
