One of the first steps toward the downfall of this country, was the invention of the 40hr work week. You put a cap on how much you work, you put a cap on how much you can make. Cant buy a truck with your 40 hour pay check, get another job and work 80! Henry Ford is largely held responsible for the 40 hour work week. Correct, but not for the laws regulating it! Yup, that came later in 1940 with the labor movement. Bankers liked it because it made budgeting easier and it gave workers less time to actually come to the bank to withdraw their money.
