I suspect most school systems provide the basic necessities and then allow (and maybe even encourage) teachers to personalize/decorate their rooms on their own if they want to. I'm guessing it’s really more of a peer pressure thing or not wanting to be the only teacher with a bare classroom, so they all feel the need to outdo one another.

Like stated above........The teachers HAVE to do that/those "decorations" and it comes out of their pocket! Is required by the school and has to be done but no funds are provied.

You can believe or not. Report...LOL...to who/whom. Contact a few teachers if you want proof.
I have asked 3 public school teachers that we know personally about this since yesterday afternoon…2 county, 1 city. All told me that they receive a budget (albeit a small one) for classroom decoration. Anything above and beyond that is either from voluntary “classroom donations” or out of the teachers pocket, but not “mandatory”.

So if there’s a school system that makes decorating “mandatory” and forces the teacher to pay it out of their own pocket, against their will, I’d want to know what the policy is. What are the guidelines? How much decorating is enough? How many pieces of flare is the minimum? What is the punishment if they refuse or simply don’t have the money.

It is great even if they only receive a little funds and it is not mandatory. My wife's was teaching her entire 30 years in Georgia, most in Coweta County, and she never received a dime for anything she spent and yes it was required by her school sysytem.
